Lord of the Flies Part 2

I believe that evil is in all of us, regardless of age. That we are born with good and evil inside of us that, at certain moments, become prominent. In order to have good, you must have evil to counterbalance the force.  In Lord of the Flies, Jack is a perfect example of how evil can be more prominent in people regardless of age, and how he uses a sort of mask to hide it from the outside world. After Ralph becomes chief and Jack goes on the hunt, you see how malevolent he becomes. After his first hunt, it seems like it slowly takes over him and he falls into a deep madness and evil that it seems he will never get out of; it completely consumes him. This may be weird but from watching Law and Order: SVU I've learned that everyone is born the same but not everyone is made the same way; some are born with a brain that is wired differently, making the person believe that what they are doing is not wrong.

In Lord of the Flies, you find behavior that is not normally found in little kids. Brutally killing pigs and making chants about it. Golding shows how kids would most likely act when faced in a tough situation, like surviving on an island with no adult authority to tell them what to do. In order to survive, they have to do whatever it takes to survive, like malicious and gory behavior to get food. In a normal house, you would never see a little kid act so maliciously.

Question 2; I think it's a little of both, if they had different leaders, a little more could have been done to keep the society from falling apart, but the boys being the ages they were, the situation didn't help them any.

Question 1; When Jack got back from the hunt with the twins, Ralph saw how brutal and and malevolent he could be. When Ralph first met Jack back when the conch brought everyone together, Jack just looked like a nerdy choir boy who couldn't harm a fly. Ralph learned that you couldn't trust people by your first instinct. In personal experience, you can't trust someone by how they look, talk, act, etc. Just because a person is all sweet and nice on the outside, on the inside they are the exact opposite.
